STAFF based in the Beehive, Grays waved a brightly coloured silk banner on Friday 22 May to flag up the need for helpers for walking festival Thurrock 100.

Thurrock 100 has been commissioned by Thurrock Council’s public health team working with CVS, community forums and High House-based arts company Kinetika. It runs for ten days starting on 9 July and ends at the Village Beach Festival, Grays Riverside on July 18. Ten 4 metre high flags are being created by artist Ali Pretty with local schools and community groups. They will represent ten walking routes across the borough and will carried Olympic torch style on each of the walks.

Helpers are needed to get involved in various roles including painting flags, leading walks and acting as walk marshals.

Laura Hudson volunteer coordinator at ngage said: “With Volunteer week starting on June 1 this is a great time to sign up as a volunteer for Thurrock 100 and be part of something new and exciting.”
