SEABROOKE Rise in Grays was a-buzz with laughter and fun on Thursday (28 May) as residents enjoyed a community day.

The free event – open to all – was based on the pedestrian walk way opposite the bungalows – a usually quiet grassy area which became a hive of activity as locals created a fun-filled day in the sunshine with lots to do.

Music from the Chafford Hundred choir group filled the air, accompanied by families waiting for face painting, a turn on the extreme outdoor play equipment and a small petting zoo.

Dozens of residents joined in the fun took advantage of the day which included raffles, jumble sales, cakes and drinks.

Andrew Blakey, a local resident and volunteer and Chair for the Riverside Community Big Local Project, said: “Days like this show how community spirited Thurrock is.

“This is the second year this event has taken place and its getting really popular.

“It’s fantastic to see so many people coming together, and meeting their neighbours.”

The day was also supported by local groups including the nearby South Essex College; the Local Area Co-ordinators team; volunteering organisation ngage; health ambassadors, Health Watch; the Job Centre, and Christian Faith group Grace 2 Grays.
