ONE OF the many suggestions that outspoken Thurrock MP, Jackie Doyle-Price had for tackling the Lakeside Cruisers was the introduction of speed humps in the area.
With the activity mainly concentrated on the A126 and the B186, YT asked Thurrock Council whether it was feasible or was there even precedent for speed humps to be placed on an A road.
A spokesperson for Thurrock Council said: "It is not feasible to place humps on the A126 as this is a dual carriageway with a speed limit in excess of 30mph. It would not be appropriate (or safe) for humps to be installed in this instance.
Similarly, the B186 has a large volume of traffic and humps would not be considered appropriate on this route through Lakeside.
This has been discussed with Essex Police and it is agreed that it would not be feasible.
