THURROCK Conservatives Leader Rob Gledhill has laid out his group’s Shadow Cabinet for the following year. Rob Gledhill said "With no overall control, and there being only one seat between the two largest parties, holding the Labour-run Council to account has never been so vital. To do that the Conservatives, as the second largest political group on the Council, will be fielding a slightly changed cabinet from last year."

The Conservative’s new Shadow Cabinet will be

    Rob Gledhill Environment

James Halden Education & External Partnerships

Shane Hebb Central Services and Finance

    Su Little Children’s Social Care

    Brian Little Transport & Regeneration

Charlie Key Heath & Adult Social Care

    Tunde Ojetola Housing

Andrew Roast Communities & Public Protection

He added "With Labour already having to u-turn on how they set last year’s budget, a strong, constructive challenge to ensure that taxpayers’ money is spent wisely, delivering the services residents can reasonably expect, will be paramount. Thurrock Conservatives have been calling for a full review of on what and how Thurrock spends taxpayers’ money and, with that process now starting, hopefully residents will start to see their money being spent wisely across all services.

"We all understand that shaping the future of Thurrock is not ‘all about the budget’ and we must ensure residents get a good level of service. Equally, the Labour administration must move away from moaning how much less they have been given to spend compared with previous years and start to focus on getting value out of what taxpayers’ money they given to provide local services."
