The 1st XI remain second in the T Rippon Mid-Essex Premier Division after Saturday’s game with Bentley was abandoned.
In a match reduced to 38 overs per side, the home side batted first and while their top three were dismissed relatively cheaply, the middle of order of Tom Johnson (90) and Steve Coleman (77) combined with some runs down the order, mean the hosts made a mammoth 269-8. Umaad Sultan picked up three wickets, while Andrew Hills and Muhammad Rahim got two each and Clarke Wren picked up the other wicket to fall.
Thurrock got through the first couple of overs without any alarms but the rain came down which resulted in no further play.
