AVELEY bowlers will soon have new changing facilities, thanks to a grant of over £8,000 from the Veolia North Thames Trust (VNTT).

The money will be used to install two new log cabins at the bowls club, which will become changing rooms for both the male and female bowlers.

Sue Feeney, Club Vice Captain said ”We are delighted to have received this grant which will give the ladies and gentlemen of the club more space in which to change.

We are also going to knock down the wall of our old changing room, making our social area that much bigger”.

Aveley bowls club has been nurturing young and old bowlers – current members ages range from 15 to 87 for the last 80 years. The club also runs a range of social activities to raise money for the club.

Doug Benjafield – VNTT Chairman said “The Trust is always happy to support projects that encourage people of all ages and abilities to take part in sport and other activities that take them out into the fresh air”.
