Ear almost severed in half after attack on teen in Tilbury

POLICE are investigating an assault that left a man needing surgery for injuries to his left ear.

The 18-year-old victim from Grays was struck on the left side of his head with a bladed weapon in the area of St Chad’s Road and Raphael Avenue, Tilbury, at about 6pm on Friday, June 26.

Dc Nick Rawlins, of Grays CID, said: "This was a nasty incident, in which the victim suffered a cut to the back of his head, his left ear was almost severed in half and he lost consciousness for a number of minutes.

"He required plastic surgery for his injuries.

"There were believed to be a large number of people in the area at the time and I would appeal for anyone who saw what happened, or has any information, to get in touch."

They can call Dc Rawlins on 101, or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or www.crimestoppers-uk.org
