    West Essex 2nd XI – 196-6

    Stanford-le-Hope 2nd XI – 192 all out

Losing a wicket from the first ball of the innings and quickly losing three more top order batsmen with just 30 on the board, a competitive total didn’t look likely for Stanford’s second string away to West Essex. But a stand of 79 from Matt Church (51) and Jack Carter (31) and a spirited effort from tailender Daryl Woodford (24 not out) saw Stanford to a decent total of 192.

West Essex’s Rehan Shamin picking up 3-28 from 9 overs and Fahd Akhtar 2-31 from 7 overs.

Stanford kept themselves in the game with some early wickets of their own after tea, Greg Cohen (3-38) and Neil Fuller (1-36) the most successful of the attack.

But a half century from Abu Khalid (51) and some decent contributions from Kabir Khan (45) and Omar Afzal (29) saw the home side to a comfortable 20 points in the end.
