Athletics: Felsted felt good for Thurrock Harriers

AT last Wednesday’s Crown to Crown fun run no one was more surprised than Loughborough University student Alec Finch to cross the line in 1st place comfortably beating multiple winner Crispian Bloomfield. His time was nearly a minutes improvement on his previous best and perhaps indicates that Alec’s best events may be over longer distances.

Winner of the women’s event was Gemma Holloway who was ‘taking it easy’ before her triumph in the English Schools Championship. Also running a personal best in 3rd place was in the in form Adam Dowman.

Adam followed this effort with a great performance in the Felsted 10k where he was 7th in 36m37, a huge personal best. Keith Willett ran really well to finish 13th in 38m39 and Toby Draper 16th in an excellent personal best of 39m03.

Another in form athlete Jason Syrett pb’d in 39m10 which earned him 18th spot. Other Thurrock finishers were Nick Trencher 20th with 39m35 and Gary Cahill 49th in 42m34.

There were 250 finishers with the Thurrock team finishing 2nd.
