THURROCK won their second game in succession by five wickets against Burnham Sports.

The away side batted first and made 225 from their 45 overs. Plenty of the batting line-up got starts but none kicked on to get a big score, however it would take some good batting from the hosts to get over the line. The spinners did the job for Thurrock, with Muhammad Rahim taking 4-42 from his ten overs, while Glen Sands would have been happy with his bowling display as he picked up three wickets including the key scalp of Fuad Ahmed for 43.

The hosts needed a couple of batsmen to make a real contribution if they were to win. Umar Ayub (26) and Ross Fullbrook got Thurrock off to a great start. Fullbrook took the attack to the Burnham attack, smashing 18 boundaries on his way to a fantastic 95. Once he was dismissed, the home side lost a couple of cheap wickets, slipping to 151-5 with only 13 overs left. But captain Matt Hills (58*) and Lee Henry (22*) came together and put on a terrific partnership to seal the win with 16 balls to spare.
