UK Power Network report majority of areas have power restored.

Statement from UK Power Networks said: "Due to a fault on the electricity network at 4.15pm power was interrupted to several thousand customers in parts of Essex. The first supplies were restored within minutes and all supplies were reconnected by 4.47pm.

"UK Power Networks would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank customers for their understanding while we worked to restore their power. We are investigating the cause."

London Fire Brigade on Twitter report that a field fire in Hacton Lane, Upminster caused a power cut there. Unsure if that is cause of Thurrock power cut.

A POWER cut has hit large section of the Thurrock area.

Residents from Purfleet to Grays and north to South Ockendon have experienced an outage at just after 4pm this afternoon.

Across the borough, there are reports off traffic light systems being down and burglar alarms going off.

The lifts are out of order at Chafford Hundred Railway Station.

UK Power Networks on Twitter have said: @UKPowerNetworks

"We’re aware of a power cut affecting the #Romford area – we’re arranging engineers to investigate. Send POWER to 80876 for SMS updates"

It appears the power cut has hit Upminster, Rainham and Romford as well.
