T-Fest hopes to make a comeback

THE organisers of T Fest have announced that they hope to make a comeback in 2016.

T Fest ran from 2008 until 2014 and saw acts such as Diversity, Akai and a host of other television stars grace the Grays beach stage.

But it was heavily dependent on Thurrock Council funding, which stopped last year.

But after a year of silence and in the weekend of its ‘replacement" Village Beach, the T Fest page on Facebook has suddenly become active again.

A statement from their Director of Communications, John Collins on Facebook said

    Dear T-Fest Fans

We have been working hard on developing a new model for the event following the withdrawal of funding by Thurrock Council and the departure of the T-Fest festival director in 2014. Over the last six months, we have been in discussions to bring him back to help us to move the event forward. We have now reached an agreement and he has agreed from 2016 to support us to further develop the event which he established in 2007.

We will be building a new team with a new model but the same great acts and artists. This will include a range of indoor events and partnershps with local organisations. We will be posting updates on our website, Twitter and Facebook page over the coming months, so watch this space.

We have received hundreds of emails and inbox messages requesting information on when the event will be back and we are grateful for all the support. Please be patient as we work on getting things in place over the next few months.

There are a large number of comments on the Facebook page in support of T-Fest, urging backing the organisers, volunteering for help and sending messages of support.

A number of people criticised the Village Beach festival that was held over the weekend.

The T-Fest page replied: "So sorry the Village Beach wasn’t a success, our inbox has been full of complaints about the event but we were not involved with it. We are working on T-Fest events soon".
