A THURROCK Labour councillor has been suspended from the Labour Party.
In a short statement a spokesperson for the East of England Regional Labour Party said: "Cllr Terry Brookes has been suspended from the Labour Party"
YT asked the spokesperson if this was because of a criminal matter. The spokesperson said: "No comment"
Terry Brookes is the councillor for the ward of West Thurrock and South Stifford. He is also a member of two trades unions, Union of Shop, Distributive and Allied Workers (USDAW) and the GMB.
He was elected in October 2014 in a by-election following the death of veteran councillor, Andy Smith.
In May 2015, he was promoted to the post of portfolio holder for public protection but was very publicly sacked by council boss John Kent after a series of no-shows.
YT tried to contact cllr Brookes via e mail but his message simply read that he was "unable to access his e mails"
His twitter account has also been de-activated.
Despite all this, cllr Brookes is still allowed, in theory, to attend council meetings and deal with residents matters.
