DETECTIVES are appealing for information following a possible road rage incident where a man suffered serious facial injuries.

It happened at around 4pm on Thursday, July 30, at the traffic lights in London Road, Grays, at the junction with Devonshire Road.

The victim, a 20-year-old man from Grays, was driving his green Audi A3, when there was a near collision with a silver Toyota Yaris. The Yaris followed him to the traffic lights which were red. The suspect got out of the car and verbally abused the victim before punching him in the face.

The victim suffered a fractured cheek bone and required hospital treatment.

Police would like to speak to any witnesses to the incident, particularly a member of the public who helped the victim after the assault and drove him to the police station to report what had happened.

Investigating Officer Dc Nicola Hadfield said: "The Yaris was possibly a 53 plate and had DJD as part of the registration number. I would urge anyone with any information to come forward, especially the person who helped the victim get to the police station.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Dc Hadfield at Grays CID on Essex Police 101. They can also leave information anonymously via independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
