A big thank you to summer event volunteers
On behalf of ngage – the community organisation and volunteer centre for Thurrock – we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people who have volunteered their time to support the events that have taken place over the summer.
Many of the event volunteer stewards were recruited by the ngage Volunteer Centre Thurrock and included events such as the Stanford Festival, Village Beach, Thurrock 100, Big Lunch and many more.
Laura Hudson, volunteer coordinator said “The Stanford Festival, Village Beach event and Big Lunch steward volunteers generated nearly 400 volunteer hours, and the number of hours will be considerable higher when taking into account other events such as Thurrock 100. It’s possible that without the help of volunteers many of these events may not have taken place, especially those with volunteers who are involved in the organising events such as the Stanford Festival.
We would like to say thank you to KFC who encouraged their staff to help out at the Village Beach event as part of their employee volunteering programme, and to other organisations including Thurrock Lifestyle Solutions and Sunny Side.
National Citizenship Service (NCS) young people volunteered at the Village Beach event following a presentation given to them at their residential by ngage staff. NCS brings together 16-17 year old and helps them develop greater confidence, self-awareness and responsibility whilst supporting social action projects.
If you would like to get involved in volunteering or volunteer at events or community clean up days, why not give ngage Volunteer Centre Thurrock a call on 01375 389853 or visit our website www.ngagethurrock.org.uk.
