FIRE crews in Thurrock attended three fires across the borough on Monday afternoon.
16:09hrs: Small grass fire, Foyle Drive, South Ockendon, extinguished by 16:28hrs. The cause has been recorded as deliberate
16:32hrs: Bin alight, Mardyke Woods, South Ockendon. One working crew extinguished by 17:07.
Crews used two back-pack sprayers. The cause has been recorded as deliberate.
1700 hrs: Two field fires near Thurrock Rugby Club. The first was at 17:36 and involved an area of stubble measuring 50 metres by 50 metres; crews used two backpack sprayers and beaters and had extinguished the fire by 18:05.
The second was at 17:52 and was on an embankment; firefighters had extinguished this small fire by 18:10hrs.
