CHAIRMAN Joy Ridgewell welcomed visitor Councillor Yash Gupta to the Thurrock Writers Circle. The evening began with Information of the new title for the Thurrock Arts Council that will now have the new name of Thurrock Arts.
Barbara Spencer has had a story to commemorate the anniversary of WWI about the ‘The Lost Gardens of Heligan’ in Cornwall, accepted for their magazine, this is to be on display there.
Tina Thompson who has had several articles in the ‘Epilepsy Review’ magazine has the latest copy with her painting as the cover picture. Deanna Brown was congratulated for getting her City of Guilds certificate in English.
The group are preparing to go on their annual writing weekend in September. This gives them practice in their skills and also ideas for their anthology, the 2015 edition is currently on sale, a mixture of short stories and poetry compiled by the members.
After the break for refreshment there followed a discussion and a task was set for the next meeting.
