THE Mayor of Thurrock was the guest of honour with the Thurrock Gurkha community trying to raise money for the ‘re-building’ homes for the earthquake victims of Nepal.

They performed ‘Alice in Wonderland’ act in the 2nd half.

The mayor of Thurrock, cllr Sue Gray said: "We were entertained by wonderful Indian ladies dancing for us. There was a unique act from Napur arts, CK Wu Style Tai Chi group as well as the Rajasthan Heritage Brass Band + the Circus Raj.

"The young ladies from the local Gurkha community acted a very moving piece in which they depicted what happened to the villagers when the earthquake hit Nepal and how those living in England were unaware of the situation. Which really brought home what happened.

"Hiten Mistry, worked so hard to get the choreography right, and it was so worth while, because the evening was a huge memorable event.

"Earth tremors are still happening daily, no re-building can start until that stops. So as much money as possible needs to be raised so building can start when it’s safe to do so.

UKIP councillor Roy Jones, Graham Hamilton, and Kevin Webster supported the event as well.
