THE LEADER of the Thurrock Conservatives has criticised a senior UKIP figure over their position on a decision on a traveller application in Thurrock.
Cllr Rob Gledhill said: "Yet again Tim Aker hasn’t allowed the facts to be a barrier between him and the next bandwagon he is jumping on.
"His petition is to do with unlawful encampments on public land which are covered under criminal justice, i.e..: the public order act.
"Malvern Road was an unauthorised development, covered by planning regulations as they purported to own the land.
"Perhaps he should learn the difference before sending out sound bites.
"Not only did I propose and get unanimous agreement for a council wide injunction to help stop unlawful encampments. I also, as Conservative group leader, responded to government consultation on changing planning guidance in relation to traveller site applications in the greenbelt and look forward to those changes being announced.
"Did Tim Aker in role as MEP or Councillor do likewise?
