THURROCK residents were kept awake last night (Sunday) after hundreds of car cruisers descended on the Tilbury area.
Congregating in the Asda Tilbury car park, the noise kept a large number of residents awake on was supposed to be a restful Bank Holiday weekend.
One resident wrote on our Facebook page" "Tonight (Sunday) some sort of cruise has descended on Asda Tilbury and they have been racing up and down the A1089 since early this evening!
"The noise is horrendous but it’s ok because Essex Police are "monitoring" the situation! Sod all chance of getting any sleep tonight at this rate!!!
"Mount a protest they come at you with horses and batons, keep a whole estate awake with antisocial behaviour and they "monitor" it with no visible presence!!! It’s 11pm and they are still at it!".
Essex Police Inspector Lee Argent went onto social media on Monday morning.
He said: "Police have dealt with several motorists for speeding offences following last night’s gathering at Asda Tilbury.
"Speeds of 114mph recorded."
