    Thurrock 3 v 2 Haringey Borough

THURROCK made a bright start to Saturday’s Ryman North clash but found themselves somewhat controversially behind after 14 minutes when the home side thought they should have had a corner but instead Borough got a goalkick and while Fleet’s concentration wavered Shawn Beveney was given sight of goal and lashed the ball past Connor Wheatley.

Thurrock continued to press and after having a decent shout for a penalty turned down, were awarded one on 32 minutes when Lewwis Spence was felled in the box and Jordan Clark dismissed Ashley Harris’s attempts to put him off and he sent Harris the keeper the wrong way to score.

Thurrock wasted no time in extending their lead when the second half got underway.

Inside five minutes the ball came to Ross Wall at the edge of the D with his back to goal. He touched it to Spence who took a step to his left and hit a swerving shot inside the post.

Thurrock continued to press and had chances to extend the lead that were spurned before Borough got back on level terms on the hour when Danny Ailey hit an inswinging shot from distance. Weatherley’s view of the ball was obscured and although he got close to the ball it crept between his hand and the post.

New signing Michael Toner came on for Kamarl Duncan and Leslie Thompson replaced Stimson straight afterwards as Thurrock set about taking control again, though it took a point blank save from Wheatley to keep honours even.

The winner came in the 71st minute when Reece Morgan crossed and third sub Jason Fontaine headed powerfully home, scoring with his first touch of the game.
