ESSEX Police are appealing for information following an aggravated burglary which happened inside a property in Lenthall Avenue, Grays.

Officers were contacted at just before 10pm on Sunday, September 6, following reports that two black men had forced their way into a house and had threatened two men who were downstairs. They asked for money. One was carrying a knife and the other a machete type weapon.

The two men managed to get the machete from the suspects and they made off from the property without any money. One of them suffered a stab wound to the stomach and a head injury and went to hospital for medical treatment. The 31-year-old injuries are not thought to be life threatening or life changing. The machete was recovered at the scene.

Ds Natalia Ross, of Grays CID, said: "We believe this is an isolated incident and may have been a targeted attack.

"I would urge anyone with any information about what happened to contact us. We would especially like to speak to people who may have seen the suspects acting suspiciously in the area at around the time of the incident, or if they may have seen two men running away from Lenthall Avenue.”

Anybody that can help is asked to contact Dc Vicki Bazzoni at Grays CID on Essex Police 101.

People can also give information to the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via an Anonymous Online Form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org
