ON Thursday (27th August) Cllr Tim Aker MEP held a public meeting for the residents of St. Michael´s Close and Stanford Gardens in Aveley to discuss the building works by Persimmon Homes along the Aveley by-pass.

Residents have been complaining for two years to the Council but they have only just acted now, when works are finishing claim UKIP. Complaints about work starting out of hours were rife along with complaints that earth mounds weren´t being dampened down. Many residents have been unable to use their gardens for two years due to the dust caused. Tim Aker has called for an inquiry to find out who at the Council has ignored two years of evidence and complaints from residents.

Cllr Tim Aker MEP said: "This development should never have gone ahead. It should have been called in and stopped. But now after two years of complaints about Persimmon Homes, enough is enough. I want to know why my residents have been ignored for two whole years.

"We need to know why Persimmon were regularly allowed to work outside of their permitted hours and not sufficiently dampenning down rubble that has meant residents have been unable to use their back gardens. Someone at the Council has taken these complaints for the last two years and done nothing. They should be held accountable and my residents should be compensated."
