    Ryman Div One North

    Cray Wanderers 3 v 1 Aveley

HAVING scaled the heights of the Ryman North table top, Millers have slipped back with successive defeats.

There was a bright start to the match with chances at both ends, Aveley’s James Marrable saving well from Leigh Bremner and at the other end Steve Willis headed just wide.

The first goal came on 12 minutes when Crays’ Lea Dawson headed home and it sparked a sustained spell of Aveley pressure that saw some hectic goalmouth scrambles and the ball cleared off the line on more than one occasion.

On 16 minutes Cray countered and Andre McCollin went close, being denied by Spencer Harrison’s block. Bremner forced a save from Marrable and McCollin was denied by Ahmed Dean’s goalline clearance. A second goal came in the 26th minute when Karl Dent rattled the net with a volley to cap a flowing move.

Aveley responded well and had good claims for a penalty waved away and Liam Nash shot over before the break.

The second half was frustrating for Millers, who saw plenty of the ball and had another couple of decent shouts for a penalty ignored, before Deen delivered an 85th minute cross and Willis flicked it in.

The goal sparked Cray into life and MCollin, who had hit the woodwork moments earlier, wrapped things up with a goal in the last minute
