Ryman Div One North
Soham Town Rangers 1 v 2 Thurrock
THURROCK moved into second place in the Ryman North with a dramatic victory at Soham on Tuesday night and, with three games in hand on leaders Cray who are five points ahead, they have laid a solid marker in an enthralling promotion race.
Yet with just a minute of normal time to go, albeit against ten men, it seemed Mark Stimson’s side would make a long journey home without anything to show for a gutsy performance.
They had dominated the first half during which home keeper George Lawton impressed and when the home side’s Jordan Gent picked up his second yellow card six minutes into the second half it seemed the odds favoured Thurrock.
Yet against those odds it was Soham who broke the deadlock when George Darling scoed with just eight minutes left.
The clock was clicking towards added time when Charlie Simpson put his side level and then Lewwis Spence produced a captain’s effort to net the winner.
Thurrock now have a seven day break until they play at home against Thamesmead Town on Tuesday night.
