    Welling United 4 v 0 Grays Athletic

FOUR goals by Welling striker Xavier Vidal dumped Grays Athletic out of the FA Cup.

There was always a suspicion that Grays’ best chance came when they scored the opening goal on Sunday afternoon.

Welling took a 22nd-minute lead when Vidal’s right-foot shot was parried by keeper Lamar Johnson but he pounced on the rebound.

Grays could have got back into the game in the second half when they were awarded a penalty when Joao Carlos was bundled over in the box but captain Sean Cronin’s strike was stopped by the feet of Welling keeper, Mike McEntegart.

After that it was the Vidal show as he struck in the 56th, 62nd and then the 76th minute.

Grays return to action on Saturday at home against Biggleswade Town in the FA Trophy.
