Ensign Bus Company may quit Tilbury after buses stoned twice in one night

THE ENSIGN Bus Company is considering pulling out of the Tilbury area after their buses were stoned twice in a single night.

The Purfleet-based company went onto twitter on Tuesday night to report the acts of vandalism.

They said: ROUTE 73: The 17:22 from Tilbury Civic Sq to Lakeside WILL NOT RUN due to a brick being thrown at the windscreen in Civic Sq #NotAcceptable.

They informed concerned users that they "Were dealing with the Police and would be using CCTV as part of their investigation."

Followers on Twitter expressed concerns that the popular bus company might pull out of the area.

Ensign Bus Company said: "Avoiding the area is a last resort and we hope the local community help stop this before we have to take this decision."

However an hour later, they returned to social media to report another act of vandalism had taken place.

"Another window broken in Tilbury Civic Square just now. Route 73/ 73A WILL be withdrawn without notice in that area if any more incidents."

"If you see youths acting suspiciously or throwing objects at our buses in Tilbury, please call the Police on 101 (or 999 if an emergency."
