THE team from Specsavers in Grays is fundraising for charity, Blind Veterans UK – which is celebrating its 100th anniversary year in 2015.
The store will be hosting a prize draw and ticket holders will also receive one of the last remaining copies of The Price of Freedom Lest We Forget, a poetry collection by Grays great-grandmother, June Simmons.
June’s war poetry collection was re-released last year following sponsorship by the Grays store, and all proceeds will be donated to the charity.
Niki Kaur, store director at Specsavers in Grays, says: ‘In honour of our service people we are continuing our mission for Blind Veterans UK in Grays this year. With this wonderful cause, coupled with the appeal of June’s incredibly popular book and some fantastic prizes up for grabs, we’re hoping to raise a fine sum.’
Prize draw tickets are available in store for £1 per strip from 1 November. The prize draw winners and fundraising total will be revealed in store on 15 November.
Blind Veterans UK provides practical and emotional support to Armed Forces and National Service veterans, regardless of when and how they lost their sight.
