Rugby: Unpleasant afternoon for Upminster as super Stanford score 53

By Bianca Wild

STANFORD 1sts beat Upminster 2s 53-0 at home in a match which saw Kyle Munro score a hat trick.

Calum Reid opened the scoring for Stanford with a penalty in the eighth minute and scored a second soon after.

Munro got his first try of the game after the ball went through nearly every pair of hands of the back line, and he sprinted in behind the posts to score.

The second half was no better for Upminster who were unable to convert play into points.

Having wrong footed the Upminster back line McDonald put Munro into space where he sprinted round the defenders and scored his second of the game.

Reid was able to add the extra points for Stanford.

In the final moments the crowd cheered for a third from Munro.

They got their wish as McDonald set him up to complete his hat trick, sending him diving over the line earning Stanford’s sixth try of the game.

Reid only missed one kick all game and kept up his scoring rate with his final kick, bringing the score to 53-0.
