Athletics: Thurrock Harriers steal the show at the Sportshall Athletics

VARIOUS Thurrock Harriers athletes took part in the second round of the Sportshall Athletics on Saturday November 14th at Sweyne Park School in Rayleigh.

Under-11 Girl, Chloe Brand, produced a fantastic performance for her first ever Sportshall competition, scoring 4.43m in the triple jump, coming second in speedbounce and winning her heat in the over and under race.

Deborah George also had her first go at Sportshall, and managed to come first in her heat in both the lap one and two races.

Under-11 boy, Olly Corek scored 43 in the speedbounce, jumped 1.96m in the standing long jump and came second in both heats of his races.

Harvey Conyard also did well in the heat of the over and under race, by coming first with a time of 21.1 seconds.

In the Under-13 girls events, Ruby Bridger came first in her heat for the two-lap race as well as winning the linear shot throw with a score of 7.50m.

Sola Taiwo came first in standing long jump with a jump of 2.16m as well as winning her heat for the second lap race.

In the under-13 boys age group, Daniel Oguntuga came first in all of his events, winning his heat in the two-lap race.

He also threw a whopping 9.25m in the Linear Shot as well as jumping 6.06m in Standing Triple jump. Oreofe Adepegba came first in the standing long jump with a jump of 2.02m.

For the Under-15 girls, Rhea Stavri came first in her four lap race with a time of 56.8s and Funmi Olajide came first in both her jumping events as well as winning her two lap race.

Under-15 boy, Kayode Odumosu came first in Linear Shot and second in standing long jump. He also took part in the two-lap race, coming joint first with fellow Thurrock Harrier athlete – Daniel Doyebo with a time of 23.2s. Daniel also came first in the standing triple jump and standing long jump.
