Top marks for train operator C2C

NATIONAL Express train operator c2c has been awarded top marks in a rigorous independent assessment of how well the company is run.

c2c has been awarded five stars in its Recognised for Excellence assessment, carried out by the British Quality Foundation. This is the second successive time that c2c has been awarded five star status in the assessment, which measures how c2c performs against the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) framework.

The week-long assessment examined how well c2c is managed in all areas of the business, from running punctual services to the way employees are involved in making decisions. Assessors from the British Quality Foundation visited stations and depots along the route including Southend Central, and Shoeburyness and East Ham depots, and interviewed staff as part of the review.

The assessors praised the new products c2c has launched in the past year, including discounted advance-purchase tickets and reduced fares for for seniors and students, the new c2c Smartcard and the introduction of free wifi at all stations.

c2c Managing Director Julian Drury said: "We are incredibly proud to have scored so well in this assessment. We have made a lot of changes since the new c2c franchise started a year ago, aimed at improving capacity for our passengers, providing greater value and using new technology. And I am very pleased that the energy and enthusiasm of all our employees has been recognised in this prestigious award."

Earlier this year c2c was also named the “Passenger Operator of the Year” at the 2015 National Rail Awards.
