BURTON ALBION have signed midfielder Nathan Ferguson from Ryman Premier League side Grays Athletic reports The Burton Mail.
The 20-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half year deal at the Pirelli Stadium having been tracked by the Brewers for several months.
Ferguson had a trial with Albion at St George’s Park and has now agreed a deal with the club.
Prior to his week-long spell training with the Brewers, Ferguson also had a trial with the Brewers’ League One rivals Fleetwood Town.
The Fleet were keen on signing Ferguson, as were Championship side Reading according to reports.
But the Brewers have secured Ferguson’s signature. The youngster initially came through the youth ranks at Dagenham and Redbridge, currently in League Two.
Ferguson is described as a box-to-box midfield player, his energy and versatility makes him an ideal recruit for Burton Albion.
The player is delighted to have been offered a deal by the Brewers.
He says: "I came in for a week to train and I really liked the atmosphere and all the lads made me feel very welcome.
"I was very keen to come here and work with the manager and the squad at Burton."
He was also impressed with St George’s Park.
He says: "It’s a great place to train and having those kind of facilities is another bonus.
"I had never seen St George’s Park before I came here and I was really happy with that."
