    Aveley 2 v 2 Mertsham Town

AVELEY dropped two vital points at home to Mertsham Town at Mill Field.

It all started so well when Billy Holland scored from the spot in the fifteenth minute.

The visitors came straight back into the match, James Marrable was having trouble collecting as he contested with the wind, but Marraz did make two very good saves to deny Tuttle and Crisp from levelling.

The Millers should’ve doubled their lead on two occasions. The first, a nice interchange between Elbi and Fallah ending up with Fallah just passing the ball wide of the left hand post. The second, came with a lofted cross into the back post found Liam Nash and he squeezed his shot just wide of the goal.

However on the stroke of half time Dereham Town levelled. Joe Oseyemi dabbled on the ball allowing Crisp to pickpocket him and finish cooly past Marrable after being one on one. [1-1].

After conceding before the break the Millers needed to keep it tight and get back in their rhythm. However after 25 seconds they found themselves 2-1 down.

A cross into the box went to Spencer Harrison his clearances landed to Borrer’s feet and he didn’t need a second invitation to find the bottom corner. [1-2].

In the ten minute period after making it 2-1, the visitors would’ve been kicking themselves for not making it 4-1 with the chances they had. Crisp, Tuttle and eventually Cooper from a corner should’ve all been converted.

Those chances came back to haunt Dereham as on the 62nd minute, David Fallah solo goal levelled the game up again. He got the ball inside the box, managed to get away from his marker and smash the ball into the top corner of the net. [2-2].

Full Time- Aveley 2-2 Dereham Town.

Next up for Millers is the rather daunting task away at inform AFC Sudbury. However as Aveley fans will remember last season both home and away matches against Sudbury ended in 3-0 wins.
