Thurrock student wins place at prestigious performing arts school

THURROCK resident and Harris Academy pupil Olivia Shepherd has been offered the opportunity to study for the next four years at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts. Tring Park is an amazing school with good academic results as well as producing some of today’s finest actors and actresses, singers and dancers.

The 14 year old will be attending the school from September 2016 and she will be studying Music, Drama and Classical Ballet, Jazz and Tap dancing, as well as all of the core academic lessons.

Olivia said; “I’m so excited and can’t wait for September to come around. I know my parents will find it challenging to raise the money to pay the school fees so, I’m hoping to raise enough to pay for travel, uniforms, dance wear and shoes, trips, and boring stuff like insurance and other expenses.” Olivia would be happy to attend a promotional photoshoot or deliver a short performance for corporate sponsors donating on her Go Fund Me page: https://www.gofundme.com/fgdnd438

Olivia has dance teacher Miss Laura of Bradshaw’s Theatre School, singing teacher Deborah Bailey and Pauline Quirke Academy to thank for giving her the skills to get through Tring Parks rigorous audition process. Harris Academy Chafford Hundred has been extremely supportive and has provided a academic grounding demanded by Tring Park.

For those like Olivia, looking for a career in the arts industry, Tring Park has an excellent record of student success, with alumni gaining worthwhile and meaningful careers including Ella Henderson, Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley and Downton Abbey and Cinderella star, Lilly James.

Olivia has sung solo in West End showcases and won gold medals at local arts festivals, but she says; “there is nothing like that feeling of performing in front of a large audience and I want to do just that for a living when I leave Tring Park.”

Tring Park: Tring Park School for the Performing Arts is one of a tiny handful of schools in the UK that stand at the forefront of specialist artistic education. The pupils here are dedicated, committed, enthusiastic, and hard working. What makes Tring Park unique is that the academic and vocational results are equally impressive with student leaving to attend Oxford and Cambridge Universities The location is exceptional too – set in Hertfordshire, within easy reach of London and the motorway network – housed in a former Rothschild mansion and set in beautiful grounds.
