Snooker miscue lands former Thurrock Tory candidate in court

A FORMER Thurrock Conservative council candidate found himself in the dock after a "mis-hit snooker shot"

Jack Barnes, 41, Goldace, Grays pled guilty at Basildon magistrates court to criminal damage at Rileys Snooker Club in Clarence Road, Grays.

The incident occurred on May 11th, 2015, just a few days after Barnes had stood as the Conservative candidate for Grays Riverside in the local elections.

Barnes was fined £550.

Speaking to YT afterwards, Barnes said: "I played an awful shot and caused some accidental damage.

"I’ve put my hands up to it and will pay the fine."

Mr Barnes would not be drawn on whether the site of fifteen reds had incensed him or not.
