Football: Grays Ath and East Thurrock share spoils in New Year derby

Grays Athletic 0 v 0 East Thurrock United

LOCAL rivals earned a hard fought point piece at Mill Field this afternoon (Saturday).

The first piece of action was a wonderful cross by Corey Davidson that flashed across the area.

Davidson was to impress throughout the game and could prove a real bonus for Grays for the rest of the season.

A minute later Bradley Fortnam Tomlinson struggled to get power into a shot.

The Rocks first chance came from a flashing header from Tom Wraight after good work from Sam Higgins

With such inclement weather the game started to get bogged down but it didn’t stop The Rocks playing expansively.

But Grays dug in and gave Rocks plenty to think about.

Grays looked a lot more balanced than of late and played in an assured manner.

The second half began in similar fashion with both teams getting into the areas without really threatening.

However it was slowly turning into an expansive game with players unafraid to run at each other.

Grays midfielder Montel Agyemang made a great run through the heart of the Rocks midfield until he was upended

Corey Davidson was really enjoy the freedom to express himself and his performance was a real boost for Grays.

Covo made a double substitution but they still could not make any in roads

Lamar Johnson made an impression save from Tom Wraight in the 77th minute but it was Grays who piled the pressure on without really looking like they would score.
