Thurrock Hockey Reports
Old Southendians 1 v 1 Thurrock. 1
A very late game in very cold conditions with a pitch slowly freezing!
Southendians began the match threatening to overpower the ladies. Laura Reynolds Alice Kittle and Ellie Harvey played well in defence and slowly allowed the midfield to settle and begin their attack.the partnership of Shannon Harvey and Paige Green caused much concern for Southendians. Both girls were proving to be too quick for the opposition and it was disappointing that their play was nit rewarded with goals.
Katue Lawrence and Captain Charlotte Adnams worked tirelessly in the middle and they thwarted so many of the attacks.
Thurrock were caught napping after their own attacking corner and found themselves one goal down at half time.
Thurrock are to be commended fir their amazing determination as they continued to attack the goal.they were rewarded with s number of corners.
Lawrence celebrated an outstanding performance with a scorcher of a goal as she belted a short corner away.
The game was level and the spectators were then treated to an entertaining battle.
The game remained at 1-1. This game was s bottom of the league clash which means that Ts remain above Southendians on goal average.

East Mens League
Division 7 South East. Thurrock Men’s 2nd team v Saffron Walden 6th team. 3-3.
Despite being 1-0 down by halftime, Thurrock felt this was 2 points dropped by the end. Saffron Walden had a strong first half and deserved their lead from a late burst at the back post from a through ball.
Thurrock took control of the second half and 2 goals from Jake Lamb put them in the lead. Billy Hick increased the lead to 2 goals. But in the last 10 minutes Saffron Walden closed the gap back up and drew it back level in the dying minutes.
This was a highly competitive game between 2 strong sides who both would have been disappointed to come away with nothing.
The men’s 2’s are away to Witham this Saturday and are currently sitting third with the top 2 still to play.
Ladies Thurrock 2s played top of the league East London narrowly losing in a close encounter.
