TRAFFIC IN East Tilbury is at a standstill as the level crossing has broken down.
This is the second time in two days.
A spokesperson for Network Rail has confirmed that the local team are aware of the fault.
Residents are naturally annoyed at the inconvenience but they are equally concerned that one day, a fault may co-incide with some form of incident which will require the emergency services to have access to East Tilbury.
