AT TWO recent "Crime " meetings in Thurrock, there has been two significant moments which may (we stress may) show a gulf between what priorities some members of the public may have and the harsh, sinister, brutish reality of life in 2016.

At the Homesteads meeting, Supt Trevor Roe detailed the issues of sex trafficking, domestic violence, internet fraud to an audience that simply wanted Corringham Police Station back open and bobbies back on the beat

But there was an even more significant moment at last Wednesday’s meeting at Thurrock Council.

We captured the moment on film when Chief Constable, Steven Kavanagh told the 49 councillors of the new challenges that they face due to "new arrivals" in Thurrock.
