Football: "Tough games ahead" says East Thurrock boss John Coventry

IT MAY not have escaped you notice that East Thurrock United are doing rather well at the moment.

Events could conspire to see the Rookery Hill outfit at the top of the league by tonight.

East Thurrock travel to Harrow Borough whilst Dulwich Hamlet go to Staines.

Manager John Coventry said: "Harrow Borough is always a tough game. We have had some bizarre results there, including a 5-4 and I think we scored four own goals!"

"We are simply not getting very excited about things just now. We go to our games, do the best we can and go home again.

"To be honest, we are getting the rub of the green and that can change very quickly.

"But the dynamic of the season can change now. Teams at the top, teams at the bottom and those in the middle can start playing differently from the first half of the season and that makes things very unpredictable.

"I still believe Dulwich are the favourites and most likely to win this league. They have strength in depth and the sheer class to pull away."

YT asked John Coventry if they wanted to be promoted.

John said: "Of course. Who wouldn’t. It may bring a different set of challenges but it is an exciting prospect.
