Ryman Premier
Billericay Town 1 v 1 Grays Ath
THE two Ryman Premier Ryman derby rivals produced a hard fought clash at New Lodge on Tuesday that ended in stalemate.
Both side are on the coat-tails of the division’s promotion play-off race and with most of the sides above them winning, both may feel this was two points lost rather than one gained.
Grays were boosted by the return of top scorer Dumebi GB Dumaka who declined a Blues shirt at the weekend and played a trial game for Barnsley on Monday, but it was one of Grays defenders, Sean Cronin, who broke the deadlock after 15 minutes when he fired home from close range.
The goal was no more than Grays deserved after a good start to the match but they appeared to lose their way a little after the goal and Billericay came more into the game.
However, they were unable to find an equaliser until seven minutes into the second half when Mike Fondop-Talon created an opportunity for Connor Hubble who finished well against an injury-hampered Lamar Johnson.
Grays bounced back in fits and starts but couldn’t find a way through and in the end honours – and the possibly the disappointment – were shared.
