THE Thurrock Youth Volunteer project offer young people the chance to develop their skills, self-esteem and overall employability whilst contributing to local communities.
The project is run by ngage Volunteer Centre Thurrock and is aimed at 16-24 year olds, to help identify opportunities for young people to volunteer across Thurrock, which can help to enhance their CV and be a means to gaining a reference or vital experience in order to increase job prospects or to access further education.
Terri Bryant, interim volunteer coordinator said “We have many volunteering opportunities for young people and want to encourage other local organisations and groups to consider reducing their minimum age of volunteers to 16 years in order to increase the opportunities further. A young person can bring their own fresh and youthful dynamic to a project or a new range of skills and attributes to groups. Voluntary work can be rewarding, demanding, tiring, worthwhile and a lot of fun”.
If you or anyone you know are between the ages of 16–24 and would be interested in finding our more about the Youth Volunteer project, or is an organisation who would be interested in using a young volunteer to support their service, please give Terri a call today on: 01375 389853 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
