Man sought after 84-year-old has wallet stolen

ESSEX Police have released an efit of a man they want to identify in connection with a theft in Grays.

A man approached the victim, an 84-year-old man, near his home off Palmers Avenue sometime between 12pm and 1pm on Sunday February 28 and asked to borrow money for petrol.

The victim gave him a small amount of cash and left.

Sometime between 6pm and 7.45pm the following day, Monday February 29, the suspect called at his home.

When he left a short time later, the victim found his wallet containing bank cards and a small amount of money had been stolen.

The suspect is described as white, aged between 30 and 40, about 5ft 8ins to 5ft 9ins tall, of slim build, with fair, sandy coloured hair. He was unshaven and had a fair complexion. He spoke in a high pitched voice and had a local accent.

Anyone who recognises the man pictured or has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact Pc Bob Knight at Grays on 101.
