Football: Grays Athletic suffer another defeat as season grinds to a halt

Ryman Premier

Grays Ath 0 v 2 Leiston

GRAYS Athletic’s season continues to come to an underwhelming end as they suffered another loss.

Goals by Gareth Heath (43′) and Jake Taylor (87′) secured the three points for the Suffolk side.

Only two players (Lamar Johnson and Joao Carlos) who started the first game of the season, also started this game and with only three subs including the manager (Mark Bentley) and assistant manager, (Glen Little), you do start to wonder what is happening at Grays? (again).

Players have come and gone at precisely the time when they needed stability in order to push on for promotion.

These matters may not be totally in their hands but why does it appear to be happening at Grays and not happening at many other clubs?

You just get the feeling that we may be seeing the ending of a chapter at Grays Athletic.

Perhaps those who run the club may be of a mindset that the club hardly has the infrastructure to go up to the National South and at the same time is 23 points off the relegation zone.

The result sees Grays in tenth place on 57 points, just six points off the play offs.

Their next game is on Saturday March 26th at home versus Mertsham.
