OVER the years, Thurrock has continued to develop into a vibrant and expanding community that is overflowing with ideas, businesses and innovations. The Thurrock Community Chest was founded in 1999 and has become one of Thurrock’s Premier Charities. The TCC promotes and supports the vital work of local good causes and groups through constructive grant making. Working within the Community the Trust assists local groups with their fundraising. An independent board of volunteer Trustees and committee members administer the Trust, with representatives coming from all sectors of the community.
The Thurrock Community Chest aims to establish, maintain and develop a fund to be used to improve the quality of life for the people of Thurrock. To achieve this they encourage groups and individuals of all ages and abilities to excel in academic, sporting and artistic fields and to fulfil their true potential. It supports voluntary and community groups that work hard providing vital services within their local community, building and maintaining strong links with the local business community and voluntary sector.
Are you a fundraiser for a local organisation? How to double your money and raise funds for your organisation? Don’t miss out on this chance to raise vital funds?
Working with the Thurrock Community Chest couldn’t be easier! Simply apply for tickets from the Community Chest and then sell them for £1 each retaining 50p for your own organisation. The other 50p is given to the TCC to be pooled and donations made to local charities and community groups at various times throughout the year. Not only do you keep 50p per ticket for your group, you can also apply for selective donations from the Community Chest Fund. All prizes are donated by local businesses and companies.
Each ticket qualifies for the annual Grand Prize Draw, with a car (very kindly donated by Bruce Vickers of Tony Levoi, Lakeside), £500 of Intu Lakeside Gift Card, gym membership and a year’s membership of Langdon Hills Golf Club being just a few of the prizes to tempt your members, associates and the public to buy a ticket. The same ticket is also entered each month into a monthly draw thus enabling you to have several chances of a prize. We are able to offer organisations set time and slots at prime locations to sell the draw tickets and ticket sellers tell us this is the easiest way they know to make money for their groups.
Groups and individuals from Thurrock based voluntary or community groups that support the provision of services to the Thurrock community can apply for a grant from the Thurrock Community Chest. These grants range from £100 – £2,500. Each application is assessed against a set of requirements. (Details on request) Grant applications are normally discussed at the monthly meetings. To ensure the Trustees have time to assess your application, it is advisable to submit it by the third week of every month.
