Police chase and arrests dedicated police operation across Thurrock

THREE people were arrested and a car seized during an operation to detect and disrupt criminals using the road network.

Road policing officers used intelligence, stop checks and mobile patrols in and around Thurrock on March 10, 2016 to identify drivers suspected of committing offences or being involved in crime.

Amongst those arrested was a 34-year-old man wanted in connection with a number of shoplifting offences.

Paul Holt of Broxburn Drive, South Ockendon was arrested in Marion Close, North Stifford at around 8.30pm and taken into custody where he was later charged with three counts of theft from Tesco Express in North Road, South Ockendon. He was bailed to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on the morning of April 12, 2016.

A 50-year-old man from Tilbury was arrested in Dock Road, Tilbury following a short pursuit just after midnight. He was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, driving whilst disqualified and dangerous driving and was released on bail pending further investigation until May 10, 2016.

A 25-year-old man who was wanted by the Metropolitan Police in connection with common assault was also arrested and handed over to officers from the Metropolitan Police in Romford.
