Appeal to trace man linked to sex attacks on women in South Ockendon

ESSEX Police are appealing for information after two incidents in South Ockendon where women were assaulted.

The first happened on Friday, March 11, in Celandine Close around 3pm.

The suspect is described as white with tanned skin, about 5ft 10ins tall, of stocky build, aged in his mid-30s with dark hair.

He pushed the woman aged in her 30s against a wall and sexually assaulted her before running off.

On Monday, March 21 at around 5.30am in Darenth Lane a woman aged in her 20s was grabbed by a man. He is described as white, aged in his late 30s, 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, of medium build wearing navy jeans.

This man was with a vehicle described as being dark blue or dark green and was either a small car or van with rear windows the same colour as the rest of the car with only two doors.

Following enquiries by officers we believe the same man may be responsible for both incidents.

Ds Natalia Ross from Grays CID said: "We have looked at both of these incidents and think they may be linked as the descriptions of the suspects is very similar.

"Both victims were young women who have been left shaken. I would reassure residents that local officers have been made aware of the suspect description so they can keep an eye out for this man.

"I would like to remind all residents to be vigilant and call us if they see anyone acting suspiciously who matches this description.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Grays CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
