AN EAST Tilbury man who was filmed ‘sickeningly’ beating a defenceless dog in a lift has been jailed for 20 weeks.
Besmur Idrizi, 27, violently kicked and stamped on his girlfriend’s Staffordshire bull terrier, called Sugar, in a lift on 10 March last year.
Idrizi, of East Tilbury, Essex, was also banned from keeping animals indefinitely.
Magistrates were shown ‘sickening’ CCTV footage of Idrizi getting into a lift at the block of flats in Grays, with his girlfriend’s two dogs.
The footage shows him attack Sugar, leaving her eye blood-shot and covered in bruises, while the other dog cowers in the corner of the lift.
Idrizi pleaded guilty to one offence of causing unnecessary suffering to the dog.
He was sentenced on Friday (18/3) at Basildon magistrates’ court to a 20-week jail term, and was ordered to pay £300 towards costs and an £80 victim surcharge.
