LILIAN Greenwood MP, Labour’s Shadow Transport Secretary, visited Thurrock yesterday (31 March) to discuss the proposed new Lower Thames crossing with Thurrock Council Leader John Kent and other Labour councillors.
Lilian Greenwood said: "I was pleased to accept Cllr John Kent’s invitation to see for myself the impact the proposed Lower Thames Crossing would have on Thurrock.
"Local Labour councillors clearly share residents’ concerns about the Government’s proposals and are determined to protect the best interests of the area they represent.
"Major infrastructure projects are always controversial so it’s vital that local people are properly consulted and have a real voice about the options under consideration. It’s worrying to hear that there’s such deep concern about the consultation process in this case and Ministers need to respond to the issues raised."
