Stifford Clays residents up in arms over "Blackshots Massive"

WHETHER it is two kids sitting on a wall smoking a joint or youths rampaging down Whitmore Avenue, Stifford Clays residents are demanding more action to deal with the growing tide of anti-social behaviour (also known as crime).

Over the past few weeks, YT has been aware of a growing number of cases reported on Facebook.

Many residents use the Stifford Clays Community Forum page to express their fears and concerns.

Residents detailed incidents in the Palins Way and Meadow Road area on Saturday night and told YT that they had informed Essex Police.

YT contacted EssexPolice but they told us that they had no trace of calls to this streets at that time.

On Monday evening (April 12th) Little Friends Pre-School, based on Blackshots Field, reported that their building had been vandalised.

Nevertheless,, the residents now feel there is an increasing group of feral youths in the area and that something has to be done.

Some residents have implored their community to continue to ring 101 in order that that all reports may be collated and so there is a clear picture of criminality in the area.

Whilst some residents are critical of the police response, others have expressed concerns about the lack of police numbers due to severe cuts in personnel.

YT will continue to monitor the situation. If you have witnessed criminality in the Stifford Clays area and have a time, date and location, please let us now at newsdesk@yourthurrock.com
